Home/School Partnership

We strongly encourage our families to be fully involved in our school. We encourage our parents/caregivers/ family/whanau to have input into all aspects of our school life. This ensures our families are more directly empowered to support their child’s learning alongside their partnership with the school.

Reporting to parents

We keep you informed about your child’s progress throughout the year. We encourage you to meet with us and read our reports with your child.

Communicating

Newsletters, Notices and Messages home are all important tools we use to keep you up to date with everything going on at Epuni School.

WhāNAU Group

Our Whānau Group fundraises for our school so we can provide extra things for our tamariki. It is a great way to get to know other families in our Epuni School community. Get involved today.

Reporting to Parents

Effective partnership between home and school is key in supporting student learning. Parents are welcome to contact their class teacher in-between these times if they have a query or concern about their child.

Communicating with Families

There are several ways which you can keep up to date with what is going on at Epuni School.

Newsletters

Each fortnight we email, and upload to this website, an update on what’s happening around the school plus upcoming events. The newsletter is available for our families and community to view.

Facebook

Our Facebook page is a great “window” to see all the fantastic things we are doing for our students, families and community. This is updated regularly with photos and information reflecting our commitment to education.

Class Dojo

ClassDojo is used by all classes. Similar to Seesaw, it allows parents to connect with the classroom, see the learning from their child, as well as message the classroom teachers. Find out more below.

Whānau Group & Parent Help

The Whānau Group is a network of parents who work together to support the school with fundraising and enhance the school’s culture. We have a wonderfully supportive community that are an integral part of what we do at Epuni School.

The group meets regularly and everyone is welcome.

Volunteers

We welcome parents/caregivers as volunteers in our school. This can include working in the classrooms assisting with reading, writing, arts & crafts, or outside the classroom with sports/games. You may have a hobby to share with our students. Talk to your child’s teacher and see how you can volunteer your time at our school.

School whānau and volunteers from the wider community support our students in a number of ways. These include:

  • Gardening with Common Unity and local volunteers
  • Reading tutors from the local Probus group.
  • Chilton St James partnership – Senior Chilton group mentorship programme
  • Breakfast Club – supported daily by volunteers
  • Sport coaches
  • Transport to and from school to various events
