Kapa haka

Kapa Haka is an important part of Epuni School. Kapa haka enhances our collective and individual identities, te reo Māori is extended, and Māori culture is celebrated.

Our Kapa Haka kaiako comes every Tuesday afternoon to share her vast experience and knowledge of te Reo Māori, Tikanga, and performance with us. It is powerful and fun learning.

Each year, we participate in HuttFest, a local event that unites Lower Hutt schools to celebrate our Pasifika heritage through song and dance. This event extends whanaungatanga across the school and teaches the discipline of performance. It’s a moment of pride as our ākonga step up on the big stage as performers, role models and leaders.
